Sending a body overseas
When a loved one is to be laid to rest in their homeland, we provide a complete, compassionate service — guiding families through every step, and ensuring all religious, legal and international requirements are fulfilled with dignity and care.
Repatriation is delivered through Brick Lane Funerals, the independent Muslim funeral service operating from within the masjid. Their experienced team liaises with authorities, embassies and airlines on your behalf, so that your family can focus on grieving and remembrance while every detail is handled correctly.
How it works
From the first certificate to the moment of departure, here is how a repatriation unfolds.
Obtain the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death from the attending doctor.
Register the death at the local Register Office and receive the Death Certificate and the Certificate for Burial/Cremation.
Our team liaises with the relevant authorities, embassies and airlines on your behalf.
The deceased is prepared in accordance with Islamic rites — ghusl (washing) and kafan (shrouding).
The body is placed in a zinc-lined coffin, as required by international regulations.
All required documentation is gathered, completed and processed.
Transportation of the deceased to the airport is arranged.
The flight is booked and the body transported with proper, dignified handling to its destination.
Repatriation involves a number of official certificates. Our team will help you obtain and process each one.
· Certified Death Certificate
· Freedom from Infection Certificate
· Embalming Certificate
· Sealing Certificate (for the coffin)
· Out of England Certificate (if applicable)
· Consular / Embassy documentation
· Airline cargo documentation
